Equitable relief during a contract dispute

On Behalf of Warren Gammill & Associates, P.L. | Aug 24, 2022 | Contract Disputes

Are you currently locked in the midst of a contract dispute? If this is the case, you will want to do all in your power to get out of it. A contract dispute in Florida can cost thousands of dollars and use up a great deal of your time and energy. There are certain measures that a court can take in order to break the deadlock.

Equitable relief

Contract disputes can be resolved when the court decides to grant a measure of equitable relief to one or both parties. This will consist of requiring a party to either take a certain action or refrain completely from this action. Equitable relief of this kind is usually granted in the midst of a contract dispute or a case involving theft of intellectual property.

There are many different kinds of equitable relief that you can choose to have recourse to. In many cases, the most common remedy of this kind will be to officially cancel the contract. This will bring a quick and handy termination to all of the terms and conditions. Both parties can return to what they were doing before the contract.

The average progress of an equitable relief judgment

You may be facing an issue that involves some sort of breach of contract. If this is the case, the court may finally move to break the impasse by imposing an equitable relief judgment.

Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that the thrust of the case simply gets forgotten about. On the contrary, the court will certainly enforce your adherence to a series of actions. You may also be expected to refrain from engaging in the actions that are listed by the court. Penalties for noncompliance will most likely apply.
